All of our bedrooms are very comfortable, spacious and unusually decorated. Each room has its own seating area with flat screen colour television. We provide tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the rooms and a selection of Walkers biscuits. Each room has a clock alarm radio and a hairdryer. All our double and twin rooms are ensuite. The single room has its own wash hand basin and has a private bathroom with toilet, shower and a bath. We also provide a towelling dressing gown for the resident of this room.
Bath sheets, hand towels and face cloths are provided for each guest. We also provide toiletries including shampoo, body wash and fine soap.
At Brooklynn we don’t believe in ‘numbers’. Our rooms are individually decorated and individually named after some of the delicious malts of the area.
Glen Grant is a double room at the front of the house and is decorated in a 1930’s style. The walls have large block coloured prints and a large framed silk scarf to enhance this bright room.
Glen Farclas is a double room at the back of the house overlooking the garden and decorated in a warm Victorian style. The wall hangings range from a hand stitched christening gown (from a local antique shop) to framed Victorian fire tiles.
Strathisla is a twin room at the front of the house. Here we move to the orient as the decorations are all from the Far East, from a ceramic elephant side table to a wooden abacus, Chinese embroideries and a silk rug on the walls.
Glen Fiddich is a twin room at the back of the house overlooking the garden. This is the Chinese room decorated in cool blues and greens with a hand painted screen and a silk gown forming two of the wall hangings.
Glen Livet is the single room with a wonderful view of our large garden at the back of the house. This popular room is accessed along a private corridor which is also a gallery of paintings, photos and nick knacks. The private bathroom is also off this corridor.
The Lounge – We have a large selection of maps and local books to help you plan your days out. Relax here after an exciting day in the Highlands and may be enjoy a wee malt, local beer or wine in the comfort of the lounge. We have a restricted licence for guests and their friends. Pre-dinner appetisers and sherry are served here prior to dinner. We have a library of books of all kinds and a cupboard of games to enjoy. We use the lounge to show off the paintings by a talented local artist as well as other interesting items collected in our travels, particularly from the Far East.
The Dining Room – One of our Californian guests who loved this room said it was ‘Victoriana meets the Orient’. It is, although there are beautiful items from Australia, Morocco and Switzerland along with the Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian and Sri Lankan influences. When we took over Brooklynn more than 16 years ago, we wanted to ensure that guests would have breakfast at their own table, not sharing with others. This we ensure, although many of our guests chat across the tables.
The large place mats, crystal wine glasses and deep red serviettes set off the dining room for dinner. On the shoulder seasons candlelight enhances the beauty of the room.
