Visitor Attractions

Where to start?  Within an hour’s drive of Grantown on Spey there are just so many interesting places to visit and things to do that it would be almost impossible to mention them all.

The VisitCairngorms website www.visitcairngorms.com  has a comprehensive list to help you really enjoy your holiday in The Cairngorms National Park.  However, below are a few of our favourites and other information that might be of some use.

Ballindalloch Castlewww.ballindallochcastle.co.uk –a wonderful castle, gardens and walks

Cawdor Castlewww.cawdorcastle.com – a fairy tale castle, fantastic gardens and maze

Findhorn village – a delightful fishing village on the Moray coast which is also known as The Scottish Riviera.  There is an excellent beach with sand, pebbles and sand dunes, which is perfect for a late evening stroll on long summer nights.  The café in the village is excellent.

The Findhorn Foundationhttps://www.findhorn.org – is a spiritual community and eco village and is well worth a visit.

Knockando Woolmillhttps://twitter.com/knockandomill – an historic working woolmill in a beautiful position near the Spey.  Enjoy a short walk from the Mill passing the Tamdhu Distillery and down to the river.  You will see the renovated Tamdhu railway station which is on The Speyside Way.

Highland Folk Museumwww.highlandfolk.com  – We cannot recommend this highly enough.  On the outskirts of Newtonmore this outdoor museum which has free admission, is a most interesting attraction which would suit all ages.  The whole day could easily be spent here.

Highland Wildlife Parkwww.highlandwildlifepark.org.uk – Here you can enjoy a safari round the Park followed by a walk around the outdoor zoo area.  Check the feeding times to get a great view of the Amur tigers, or catch the polar bears at play.  Scottish Wildcats can be seen here too.

Golf – Nearly every town and village has its own golf course, in fact Grantown on Spey has two, Grantown Golf Clubwww.grantownonspeygc.co.uk/home.aspx – and Craggan Outdoorswww.cragganoutdoors.co.uk.  We have information on all the other local golf courses.

We have an extensive selection of brochures for many of the other local attractions and, of course, we will be happy to advise on other places of interest and different activities.
