December Reflections

I have received a few complaints that 'Reflections' has not been updated for ages! I am so happy to see that someone reads it at all! But I have been remiss and apologies. To make amends, I thought you might like to read my latest poem - comments welcome.

December Poem

It’s winter now in Grantown-on-Spey
The short slow days begin with sparkling snowy mornings
Lit by a late low sun.
But not long to go,
Before,
The blue black skies are filled with twinkling diamonds of light
Which herald the early evening night.

It’s also a time
Of fun and good cheer,
Of making friends
Of sharing food,
Mulled red wine,
Coffee, chocolates
And all things good.
Of single malts
Of family and friends.
A time of year to make amends.

December, winter
Coldness, endings,
Wrapped up cosy and warm
Appetites sated,
Whisky poured,
Replete.
Consider
Lessons learned,
Successes savoured,
Reminisce.
And as a tear begins to form
As usual, and in a maudlin way,
Don’t forget,
It’s not too long
To new beginnings.
Happy New Near,
Cheer up,
It’s almost Hogmanay.

We wish you all the best for 2013 and look forward to welcoming you to Brooklynn!
