Bircher Meusli and jam

Posted on

We are (almost) fed up with our delicious strawberries - we have had so many of them, but now the blackcurrants are ready.  The branches are so laden with large juicy fruit that they are brushing the ground.  The raspberries and the gooseberries are getting there too!  We have had so much rain and quite a lot of sun that the berries from the garden this year are fantastic.  The redcurrants are all finished now; we shared them with the birds.

There is one disappointment, the plums, but we had so many last year that we can live with that.  We've still got lots of ginger and plum jam left anyway.

Tomorrow is blackcurrant jam and Bircher Meusli making day.  I make the Bircher Meusli with a mixture of berries, nuts, apples, lemons and oats for the guests' breakfast.  I'm looking forward to it too.

Check out our Facebook page soon - Alan took a great berry photo!
